Moorcroft

The first pieces of Moorcroft Pottery were designed by a 24 year old William Moorcroft employed as a designer by James Macintyre & Co. in England back in 1897. The pottery is unique in that William used the tube lining method in the Florian Ware made while he was a designer and pottery maker for James Macintyre. In 1904 the Moorcroft name started a tradition of gold medal awards which led to the appointment of the Moorcroft company as Potters to Her Majesty The Queen in 1928. Upon his death in 1945, his eldest son Walter, took over managing and designing.Walter died in 2002.
